Update Your Driving Knowledge

Is your driving knowledge up-to-date?

It’s important to keep up with changes in driving and highway regulations and signs. Driving is more complicated today than when you learned to drive and the rules of the road have changed. Familiarity with the rules and knowing what to do can eliminate hesitation or uncertainty when you need to make a decision fast. Find out where your driving knowledge stands.

Take ICBC’s online Practice Knowledge Test to see if you have kept up-to-date. If you don’t pass the Practice Knowledge Test, consider the following safety tips:

  • Go to your nearest driver licensing office and obtain a free copy of Road Sense for Drivers. Carefully review the guidebook. You can also download the guidebook on your computer.
  • The guidebook Tuning Up for Drivers is also a useful resource to help you update your driving knowledge and skills. It is also available from driver licensing offices or you can download it on your computer.
  • Consider taking a driver training or refresher course.
  • Once you’ve updated your knowledge, consider repeating the Practice Knowledge Test from time to time to ensure that you are keeping up with changes to the regulations.
